SPECTRE's stable of artists include an impressive roster of forward thinking artists delivering some of the days most crucial sounds. We promote many eclectic styles of music including adult alternative, alternative rock, chill, electronic music, hip-hop, jazz, pop, world music, and anything else that moves us. Some of the artists we've been most fortunate to work and grow with include Atmosphere, Bebel Gilerto, Bright Eyes, Built to Spill, Norah Jones, Aesop Rock, Thievery Corporation, Squarepusher, and Wilco, amongst others. Out greatest successes range from these marquee acts, to such breakout artists as The Avalanches, Cornelius, M.I.A., Jamie Lidell, Menomena, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Blitzen Trapper, Os Mutantes, British Sea Power, Talkdemonic, and so many more. In addition to working "the charts", SPECTRE works closely with key tastemaker DJs in nearly every genre nationwide. Beyond simply having a stellar staff and top-notch roster, (though we have those things, to be sure,) we pride ourselves on taking a bigger-picture approach to each and every project we take on; our primary concern is generating REAL attention and airplay that helps your artists build their fanbase, sell-out shows, and sell more records, all of which helps your label grow. It's important to us that radio stations learn about your labels as well as your artists, making them more and more open to your future projects as well as your current ones. To that end, our campaigns are meticulously tailored to each release, and the list of stations with whom we work stretches across a huge variety of genres, formats, and reporting panels. CMJ has long been the standard for college radio promotion in the US and Canada. To that end, we are in constant contact with CMJ-reporting Music Directors of all stripes. Of the hundreds of reporting stations, we focus not only on the biggest stations (some of whom carry as much or more weight than their commercial counterparts), we also focus on the smaller, more active stations in college-centric markets throughout North America. The result is the most versatile, efficient radio campaign possible -- one that casts a remarkably wide net to the best possible stations, without wasting copies or over-servicing your release. Our goal is to take the strength of our relationships to forge the strongest bond between each station and your artists, giving you the airplay and attention you want, as well as the tools you need to move forward. On the specialty side (RPM, Hip-Hop, World, Latin), it was over ten years ago that SPECTRE took the lead in actively promoting to specialty music directors, many of whom spend as much (or more) time as their head or Alt MD counterparts in getting their DJs involved with new music. Our relationships at these panels are the longest-standing and best in the business. Over the last few years these shows’ audiences have grown significantly, becoming a crucial outlet for downbeat electronic and eclectic music. Our panel of chill out specialty shows spans multiple radio genres. There are shows on Modern Rock Stations, Hot AC Stations, Smooth Jazz Stations, AAA stations, non-commercial AAA stations, satellite radio services such as Sirius, XM, DMX, internet radio and syndicated programs. We service approximately 100-120 of these shows and have a great tastemaker network in this genre. Hip Hop 12" Promotion and Integrated DJ Servicing Rapattacklives.com 12" Charts Rapnetwork.com 12" Charts Mixrevolution // NEW!!! SPECTRE has long been a leader in promoting directly to DJs themselves, and we now service a literally indescribably broad group of jocks in the US, Canada, and beyond. From local trendsetters ruling the scenes in their town, to the go-to people for "breaking" a record in a particular market, to internationally renowned DJs playing new music to new audiences across the globe, SPECTRE's DJ contacts are unmatched. Whether they do radio shows, publish websites, make mix tapes, run street teams, own record stores, or throw release parties, we can filter through this database to make sure that your 12"s, MP3s and CD singles get to the people crucial to generating as much awareness as possible for your releases. So crucial are our DJ contacts that when Mixrevolution launched their new trade/reporting outlets in 2008 (sign up if you haven’t already!), Mixrevolution worked in conjunction with us on the setup and outreach of their entire DJ network. Mediaguide Alternative Specialty Albums & Tracks FMQB Modern Rock Specialty Albums Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Albums In the vast, seemingly unnavigable sea of commercial radio, specialty shows are a beacon of hope -- DJs on these shows have more freedom to play the records *they want to play,* and in doing so attract dedicated audiences, typically the savviest listeners on the hard-to-break-through commercial side. The panels above aggregate the airplay on these shows, and can help garner attention to help your release get to that coveted "next level." SPECTRE has placed several artists in the Top 5 on these charts including artists such as Bright Eyes, Aesop Rock, 1990s, El-P, Tiny Masters of Today, and Ladytron. Additionally, SPECTRE has also had independent releases added to the playlists of such tastemaker Modern Rock Stations such as Indie 103.1 and WFNX. FMQB AAA Public Radio Breakout Albums Mediaguide AAA (NC) Albums & Tracks Mediaguide Noncommercial Indie Albums Jazzweek World Music Albums Over the last ten years, as commercial radio has become more and more homogenous, public radio has picked up where many of their commercial counterparts have (ahem) dropped off. Today, noncomm AAA radio stations strike an exciting and elusive balance to play some of the best and most exciting indie artists while maintaining an impressively broad demographic of listeners. This is where Elvis Costello and Norah Jones sit side by side with the likes of Bright Eyes, Built To Spill, Jarvis Cocker, Zap Mama, Forro in the Dark, and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. Promotion at this panel of stations, many of whom spin records far heavier than their college counterparts, can help amplify the breadth and depth of your release's life at radio and beyond. SPECTRE Digital Radio Servicing Tools Three years ago, SPECTRE took the first steps toward digital delivery, offering specialty and mixshow DJs exclusive downloads on singles, cleans, and instrumentals for our 12"s. As more and more labels and artists moved toward digital delivery of their albums at radio, we wanted to build a system that not only met but exceeded their needs, and today we are proud to offer the best (and best looking) digital download system around. In addition to tracking on logins and downloads of your release, SPECTRE Digital offers streaming previews, easy to use feedback fields, full artwork and tray cards, and so much more. Mailings are a nuisance, plain and simple. No matter how efficient or organized you are, there's really no way to avoid the hours that go into packing and shipping your CDs or records. To that end, SPECTRE offers a low-cost option to take this headache off your hands and into ours. For more info email Dave Sanford dave@spectremusic.com |
